Messages to the Children of Israel

The Heifer

Section 5

40

O Children of Israel! Call to mind
The (special) favour which I bestowed,
Upon you, and fulfil your Covenant;
With Me as I fulfil My Covenant;
With you and fear none but Me.

41

And Believe in What I reveal;
Conforming the revelation
Which is with you;
And be not the first to reject;
Faith therein, nor sell My Signs
For a small price; and fear Me,
And Me alone.

42

And cover not Truth;
With falsehood, nor conceal
The Truth when ye know (what it is).

43

And Be steadfast in prayer;
Practise regular charity;
And bow down your heads;
With those who bow down (in worship).

44

Do ye enjoin right conduct
On the people, and forget
(To practise it) yourselves
And yet ye study the Scripture?
Will ye not understand?

45

Nay, seek (God's) help;
With patient perseverance
And prayer:
It is indeed hard, except
To those who bring a lowly
spirit,-

46

Who bear in mind the certainty
That they are to meet their Lord,
And that they are to return to Him.

Section 6

47

O Children of Israel!
call to mind
The (special) favour which I bestowed Upon you;
and I preferred you,
To all others (for My message).

Question to ponder: What is this chapter try to tell us? Why is it named as "The Heifer"? What wisdom behind this? I'm still researching for this matter. Anyway what I understand about "the heifer" in general, is that it is referred to an event at the time of Moses (Peace be upon Him) and the Israelites. I found one interesting verse in the Old testament, in the Book of Numbers: 19

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying. "This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying: "Speak to the Children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without blemish, in which there is no defect and on which a yoke has never come."

Well, in my opinion, this must be have something in common. Keep searching.
